Its use in various dishes, including curries, can be traced back to ancient times.Matar Paneer is a Indian dish that is made by soft cubes of paneer with green peas in a rich and creamy tomato-onion based gravy. This famous Indian curry is served with wheat roti.

Ingredients:

– 2 cups of chopped tomatoes

– 1 cup of finely chopped onions

– 1/2 cup of cashew nuts 

– 1-inch piece of ginger

– 4-5 cloves of garlic

– 2-3 green chilies

– 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

– 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

– 1 teaspoon of red chili powder

– 1 teaspoon of coriander powder

– 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala

– 2 tablespoons of oil

– Salt

– 200 grams of paneer (cubed)

– 1 cup of green peas (preferably fresh)

– Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

Complete process:-

1. Prepare the Tomato-Cashew Paste:

   – In a blender, add chopped tomatoes, cashew nuts, ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Blend until you have a smooth paste.

2. Prepare the Gravy:

   – Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds 

   – Add finely chopped onions and wait until they turn golden brown.

   – Add the tomato-cashew paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.

   – Stir occasionally, and add water if the gravy becomes too thick.

   – In a separate pan, heat some oil and add cumin seeds.

   – Add cubed paneer and green peas.

   – wait until the paneer turns slightly golden.

3.  Combining the Gravy and Paneer-Peas Mixture:

   – Add  paneer and peas to the tomato-cashew gravy.

   – Stir well and cook it for 4-5 mins on low flame until the gravy starts becoming thick.

   – Sprinkle garam masala over the Matar Paneer and give it a final stir.

   – Garnish your Matar Paneer with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

   – Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.
